Staircases to Nowhere: Making Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” — Special Edition

An oral history of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Produced as part of our ongoing oral history, The Elstree Project, the original version of the film in 2013 was 55 minutes, but it has now been completely re-edited into a brand new special edition 1hr 15m (75 minute) version — with five additional interviews — for Criterion.

This will be premiere as part of the special features on the Criterion Collection’s Stanley Kubrick Complete 4K UHD box set and on The Criterion Channel’s streaming service in North America in October 2026.
